Name Badge Carving Tips

  • Use Capital Letters: All-caps text ensures the clearest readability and makes transferring the outline to your wood easier.
  • Adjust the Length: Leading and trailing spaces make the pencil longer and the text smaller relative to the pencil length, so padding with spaces is not recommended, but supported. Useful for very short names such as Al, Ed, and Tim.
  • Finding the Right Proportions: Aim for a name badge length of 4-5 inches (10-13 cm). This space allows the letters to stay at least 3/8 inches tall; if possible, use 1/2″ letter height. For longer names or messages, prioritize balance over fixed dimensions and maximize letter height.
