You may sand the board after you carve the pattern; since there are no sharp ridges light sanding of the carved board should produce great results. The pattern is applied using a regular mechanical pencil combined with a computerized system to achieve the ultimate precision; it is easy to cleanup the pencil lines after the board is carved.
