Handmade coaster set is an ideal project for any beginner wood carver. Chip carved coasters look great with any glassware as geometric design is appealing and glass reflects light to create attractive effects.

To design a coaster you only need a pencil, ruler, probably compass and imagination.

Making several coasters with the same design is boring. Try to make every coaster unique.

I finished coasters with three coats of Pure Tang Oil. The oil highlights wood grain and makes coasters water/alcohol resistant. In my experience pure Tung oil partially cures in 7-10 days. It takes 20-30 days to cure completely.
